Good Kidney Health: What Are the Signs

Good Kidney Health: What Are the Signs
A:

We agree that spotting the early signs of kidney injury is essential, but there should be other things we focus on. Instead of just looking for signs of poor kidney function, we should learn the signs for good kidneys. Understanding the signs of healthy kidneys also helps us know if we are on track and are good at maintaining our kidney health.

Healthy Urine

Urine quality and frequency speak a lot about our kidney health. They are the most direct indication. Regular urine color should range from colorless to pale yellow, depending on how much water is consumed. But unusual color tones do not always mean health problems. Some food and medicines can change urine color.

Most people urinate around 7 times over 24 hours. 4 – 10 times a day without bothersome or discomfort can be acceptable. Usually, our body produces less urine at night, and we should be able to sleep through 6-8 hours without getting up for a restroom trip.

Like urine color, what we drink and how much we drink can affect urination frequency. There are a few more factors that can affect our restroom trip count. But the key is consistency in urine habits and urine color. There should not be any difficulties or discomfort during urination too.

Good Sleep

Waking up several times at night to urinate certainly will disrupt the sleep cycle. Also, kidneys are responsible for clearing out toxins and wastes. Proper kidney functions prevent toxin building up or even overload, which can affect our sleep quality.

Healthy Appearance

People with healthy kidneys also have clear skin and healthy hair etc. It is because kidneys also have an impact on blood quality. Good blood quality can allow each part of our body to receive proper nutrients and minerals for healthy growth. Good kidney function also keeps a good sodium and fluid balance in our body, which prevents puffiness.

When taking care of our kidney health, we don’t only keep an eye on any drastic changes. It is also a good idea to understand the signs of good kidney health. It helps us know if we are on track and if our kidney health is improving.
